CONVERGE! has obtained funding from the European Union to develop the CEEGS technology, which uses CO2 for energy storage and simultaneously promotes the geological sequestration of CO2. The technology was designed by CONVERGE! and the University of Seville, Spain. After the concept formulation, an international consortium involving CONVERGE! and research institutions from Portugal, Greece, Belgium and Germany, was awarded 3 M€ by the European Commission to raise the technology readiness level (TRL) from 2 to 4 by validating the technology in a lab environment. The work will be conducted in the project CEEGS: Novel CO2-based electrothermal energy and geological storage system.
