To meet the Paris Agreement goals and a transition to CO2 zero emissions society by 2050 requires new technologies for a fast decrease of greenhouse gas emissions. Geoenergy comprises a set of technologies that resorts to geological formations for storage of energy related fluids and potential renewable energy sources. CO2 capture, utilization and storage, geological storage of energy (e.g., as compressed air or as hydrogen) and deep geothermal resources are key technologies in which CONVERGE! promoters have been conducting research in the scope of national and European funded projects.
