Coordinators

Júlio Carneiro

Geologist with a PhD degree in Hydrogeology from the University of London. Conducts research on CO2 capture, utilization and geological storage (CCUS) since 2008, having participated in several European Union funded projects. He has also been involved in studies related to compressed air energy storage, hydrogen storage in geological formations and, more recently, in natural hydrogen exploration. He strongly believes that geo-energy technologies, based on the use of the subsurface for energy related purposes, provide an essential contribution for climate change mitigation and for converging to a net zero CO2 future.

António Correia

Geophysicist with a Ph.D. degree in Geophysics from the University of Alberta, Canada. Conducts research in geothermics, physical properties of rocks and applied geophysics to hydrogeology, archaeology, geotechnics, and cryospheric studies. He has participated in projects related with geothermics and evaluation of geothermal resources in Portugal, Morocco, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico as well as in projects related with CO2 capture, utilization and geological storage (CCUS). In the last couple of years he has also been involved in studies related to hydrogen storage in geological formations and geophysics for natural hydrogen exploration.
